In Chinatown, Wu hits Hochul on immigration

Columbia law professor Tim Wu, who is running an insurgent candidate for lieutenant governor, criticized his opponent Kathy Hochul on Tuesday for a record on "immigrant rights" that he said is "damning" and out of step with the Democratic Party.
In conjunction with a press conference in Chinatown, Wu's campaign released the third part of its "dossier" on Hochul, who rose to a Buffalo-area House seat in part by opposing drivers' licenses for undocumented immigrants.
The dossier questions Hochul's recent support for the state DREAM Act, and cites a statement from her time as Erie County clerk, when she said she would notify the local sheriff of applicants for licenses who might be violating immigration law.
It also notes Hochul's congressional votes in favor of a border security bill, a bill to increase funding for local law enforcement to identify undocumented immigrants, and a vote to repeal a visa program.
