New law extends tax options for municipalities with nuclear plants

Jon Campbell

A new law signed Thursday by Gov. Andrew Cuomo will continue to allow localities with nuclear power plants—such as the Indian Point Energy Center—to negotiate property-tax agreements with the facilities.

In 2001, the state Legislature and then-Gov. George Pataki enacted legislation that allowed local governments and school districts to negotiate payment-in-lieu-of-tax deals with nuclear-plant owners, given that their value fluctuates with the market and makes property-tax assessments difficult.

They should pay their fair share of taxes!
Cuomo is looking more and more like a teabagger every day. Not to mention his chosen running mate, Kathy Hochul IS a teabagger!

I am getting out and voting for Teachout for governor and Wu for Lieutenant governor Tuesday in the primary.
I hope that Zephyr puts a hurtin' on Andrew's ass, and Wu wins.
Chances are that Wu can win, because he will get ALL of the oriental vote, and Teachout can get about 33% of the vote. This would make Andrew look like the fool that he is, and screw with his pick for Lieutenant governor.
