9. Not sure if I've told you this story...

...but 2 weeks ago, I was in the midst of reading a personal fundraising email at work from Congressman Dan Maffei (D-NY24) when, all of a sudden, I looked up and *HOLY SHIT* there's Dan Maffei walking thru my department, led by our VP of sales/marketing!

I yelled "Hi Congressman!!!" Annoyed, our VP said to him, "...and that's 'Cooley Hurd'" (in reality, he used my given name ). Congressman Maffei did a 180 and came over to shake my hand!

Since then, the VP has been a bit pissed at me because I yelled at a "visitor".

Added fun fact: the VP wholeheartedly supported Congressman Maffei's opponent, tea party fav https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann_Marie_Buerkle in the last 2 cycles. Sooo, when I saw him giving MY candidate a tour, I was a bit shocked...

Fortunately, he's a VP. His brother, the P and CEO, is quite generous with compensation. I've been there 22 years and he has *always* recognized my sacrifices for the company and had adjusted my compensation accordingly. (i.e. despite my lack of a degree, they pay me an appropriate-to-generous salary given my contributions to the company over 22 years).
