Casino developers paint rosy pictures of economic boon

Kyle Hughes, NYSNYS News

ALBANY >> Developers rolled the dice Monday as a state board in charge of deciding where to site four Las Vegas style casinos upstate conducted the first of two meetings that at times sounded like sales pitches for luxury time shares.

“From a sweeping vista overlooking the state Capital skyline and majestic Hudson River, Capital View Casino and Resort will be beacon of opportunity and prosperity for the entire region and beyond,” ran one typical description, used by the developers in video praising an East Greenbush project that they said “stands at the crossroads of history and destiny.”

Six other proposed casino projects for the Albany to Southern Tier region got the same glowing treatment, though no new details were offered. The board is expected to approve one in the central part of the state and one in the vicinity of Albany, with another two going somewhere in the Catskills and lower Hudson Valley.

3. Agreed. Very shortsighted. Bet they were told of the "revenue" it would bring the State.

Bet they were told of the "huge revenue" it would bring the State.
Its a cunning, greedy, & corrupt business & that's what the voters approved. Sadly.
