A.G. settles with state’s largest insurer

New York's largest health insurance company will spend $3.5 million to help customers—many of whom are New York City employees—pay for certain out-of-network expenses, and promises to be more transparent in the future regarding its out-of-network costs.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Tuesday he had reached a settlement with G.H.I., a subsidiary of EmblemHealth Inc., after several consumers complained to his office that they were surprised by their medical bills.
