After Cuomo meeting, de Blasio asks Legislature to be ‘responsible’ on 421-a

Laura Nahmias

ALBANY—After meeting with Governor Andrew Cuomo for slightly more than an hour in the state Capitol Wednesday, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio emerged to say that it would be “irresponsible” for the Legislature to simply extend current laws governing the 421-a tax program, rent regulations and mayoral control.

De Blasio said in brief remarks to reporters that making changes to 421-a, strengthening New York City’s rent regulations laws, and extending mayoral control of city schools are “things we expect Albany to be responsible on and to act on,” de Blasio said.
