Schneiderman gives rare endorsement to former chief of staff's Senate run.

'In a rare legislative endorsement, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is formally backing his former chief of staff’s state Senate run.

Micah Lasher is running in the Democratic primary for the upper Manhattan seat Schneiderman represented for more than a decade.

“As a matter of policy, I do not make endorsements in state and local elections, but I am making an exception here because I am uniquely positioned to assess Micah Lasher’s qualifications for this seat, and they are outstanding,” Schneiderman said. “Micah has enormous talent, a big heart and a strong ethical compass, and he will be an unwavering voice for reform in the Legislature—a voice that is so badly needed at this moment.”

Schneiderman said Lasher as his chief of staff "was a driving force behind some of our office’s most groundbreaking work, including our investigation of fossil fuel companies, our unprecedented work to stop misconduct by landlords and building owners, our partnership with the New York State Education Department to ensure access to education for immigrant children, and our work to provide bulletproof vests to police officers and stop online sales of illegal guns"'>>>
