Former Cuomo aide eyes NY-19 seat
Another Democrat is tossing his hat in the ring as a potential challenger to Rep. John Faso in the 2018 election, swelling the number of possible Faso opponents to four.
Gareth Rhodes, a former press aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, announced in an online post Monday morning that he is considering a challenge to the first-term Republican following Faso’s vote in favor of the American Health Care Act — the House Republican Obamacare repeal and replace plan — last week.
“It’s time to repeal and replace John Faso,” Rhodes wrote in a post on Medium.
Rhodes grew up in Ulster County and worked in Cuomo’s press shop before leaving to attend Harvard Law School for the past two years. In an interview, the 28-year-old said he will take a leave from his studies to run for Congress.
