Cuomo: Colleges With COVID Spikes Will Move to Remote Learning

Colleges and universities in New York that see elevated coronavirus cases will move to two weeks of remote learning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday said.

The criteria announced Thursday in a conference call comes as SUNY campuses around New York are already in session with students on campus. A student this week at the University at Albany tested positive this week.

A school would move to remote learning for two weeks if 100 cases or found or if the number of COVID cases is equal to 5% of the student population.

"We should anticipate clusters" at the campuses, Cuomo said.

Near me, the University of Dayton switched to all-online courses (also for two weeks) after they had 148 confirmed new cases on Thursday... accounting for over 10% of all new cases for the entire state of Ohio!

It's a private school, so it's not very big. And many students never returned to campus, yet they had that kind of outbreak.

I doubt it will stop when the students return to class after a couple weeks.

Bloomsburg (State) Univ in PA. Students moved back 2 weeks ago. The official reasoning was very low case numbers in the rural county (like students weren’t returning from all over the state and out of state??) Now there’s over 100 cases already, classes have moved to all-online and she’ll probably move back home soon as she lives in a university-owned apartment. Rinse and repeat for every other college in the country.

I watched the local news on Friday evening, and witnessed highlights of the various high school football games in my area.

The players on the sidelines and the crowd wore masks (often close together), but the players on the field wore no masks as the breathed heavily in each other's faces during blocks, tackles, etc.

So insanely stupid! Gov. DeWine approved the crap!

Ohio's new infection rate slowly dropped down to about 3.2% after the mask mandate, but just watch it increase again!
