Wildfire smoke covers Central Park, 2500 miles away.

Keith Olbermann (@KeithOlbermann) Tweeted:
New Video: This is the NYC Wildfire Haze.

A skyline blurred and enshrouded - complete with a sickening acrid smell - from fires induced by our abuse of the planet. But the fires are 2500 miles away, in Oregon and California.

Like the climate disaster it portends, it's here now. https://t.co/aQYRXM1JoR

Most of the time you wouldn't know that we are surrounded by mountains. And then there's the heat that's been cooking us since early June.

We are about 40 miles as the crow flies from huge wildfires in Washington - and no smoke here at all (this time...have been there done that frighteningly before)!!

EPA has a really good app to find out severity and health impacts of smoke in locations you select. AirNOW.

Stay safe, everyone!!

Maybe the city needs to tend to its waste management better. I am a lot closer and it smells like forest fires. Not garbage.

I finished around 7:15 PM and the skyline was less visible than KO's photo of NYC.

I've got a long trail running event on Sunday and just started wondering about wearing a mask. It's kind of scary to think about how much crap might be in the air.
