Former NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio says he won't run for Congress, either

Turns out he’s a bit blasé on campaigning these days.

For the second time in two months since leaving City Hall, former Mayor Bill de Blasio announced he was not running for public office, saying Tuesday he would sit out a congressional run in his local Brooklyn district.

“Back in January, I made a decision to focus on advocating for policies that would continue to drive down income inequality in New York,” tweeted de Blasio. “I’m going to stick with that decision — it was the right one then and it remains so.”

The congressional district, New York’s 11th, was redrawn this winter by the ruling Democrats in Albany. The district, which includes right-leaning Staten Island, now cuts north into Brooklyn and through de Blasio’s Park Slope neighborhood.

It's mildly ironic that these two famous enemies have both been pushed out of electoral politics. There just isn't any position they can run for with any credibility.

Cuomo doesn't seem to get the fact that voters have had enough of him.

de Blasio seems to realize that he doesn't have the support needed for a run for higher office. Frankly, he should go into some kind of private practice and make some money, just like many other retired politicians. He should provide for his family's future.

Honestly, good riddance to them both. I write this as I voted for Cuomo three times and de Blasio twice.
