(71,265 posts)is a bit more lively. I just thought that NY should have a host and maybe in some way i can raise the visibility of the group. Hope it works out somehow.
I think I saw you are a host as well in LBN. No rest for the weary with that group and GD.

(19,491 posts)GD is a whole nuther story, I pity those fools, lol.

(43,049 posts)things are so quiet in the Interfaith group where I co-host I kinda forget I'm a host there.
But some others...
Anyway, yeah, it's good to have a host.

(11,464 posts)as a host of the Hillary group and an LBN host.
(and one day hopefully the GD)

(71,265 posts)I am a Hillary fan as well.
I hope you post some of your mayoral updates here.

(11,464 posts)Though I live in NJ now, I am always a NYer in heart and spirit.
and will do.
What's amazing is NY has four (five if you count Bill Clinton) major national names.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)is he half as bad as he looks from this side if the hudson?

(11,464 posts)I tried to tell people in town, and everywhere that he is not who he is saying he is
and to hold their noses and vote for Corzine.
He has been a bully from day one.
Though he was great during Sandy, gotta give him 1/2 credit and take away 1/2 because he vetoed the already given federal money for a new North Jersey tunnel/mass transit to the city that would have had thousands of jobs, and it is needed.
Then lo and behold, Sandy came flooded the Hudson tunnel and showed NY/NJ needs a new one, and damn, he had 100% of the funding and because he wanted to impress the tea party, he vetoed it.
That is the real Chris Christie.
It would be interesting if he wins reelection if he was offered and took a job in Hillary's administration opening up the way for a democratic take over of the governorship.
He don't worry me in the President race, he won't be nominated and if he were the VP would not win NY/NJ or any of the blue states so he really has no value presidential wise.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I think your right about the nomination. He is not crazy enough for the GOP.
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)long as you don't go negative on him.
He has a big mouth and a nasty temper though.
I do wonder why he originally turned republican in such a nasty way.
Don't want to start analyzing it, but perhaps he was bullied and turned nasty and then used it.
(and I know alot don't agree with me on DU, but as opposed to the NY Mayor who just used the title to win the election but in his personal real life was always a big Mass.then NY liberal(yes I know people here don't agree now, but I have known him for 50 years now, and yes, his job as mayor causes him to do things people don't agree with, but he is 100x better than Rudy ever was in all ways.)
I am a big John V. Lindsay fan from the 60s/70s.
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I like reading them.
graham4anything
(11,464 posts)though the 4 paragraph rule makes a long article like that hard
It will be an interesting race made more interesting if Weiner does get in.
and while he is not at this point running Ray Kelly would be a formidable force for the republicans if he got the nomination.(especially with ex-police chief Bill Bratton, who has ties to NY/Mass/California saying he wants to come back as the police chief.)
The ones who can't stand Bloomberg are going to need to find a new person to blame next January.(though most of them are pro-gun people who don't like him for obvious reasons).
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)I think he will be known as one of our better mayors but I also have to say I never voted for him.
I hope Weiner gets in the race. I am not a fan of Quinn because she seems so political. I will vote for her if she gets the nomination, but I always like the congressman.

(11,464 posts)Yeah, snow has always been a problem.
The other problem wiht unions is a direct result of the negative press after he was mayor, that John Lindsay got, getting blamed for giving too much to unions.
So the press made it impossible for anyone else to ever again be like John Lindsay.(who like the others all had snow problems.)
Now of course, there are more bad storms than ever, so the problem keeps existing.
What is hard in NYC (that I only noticed after moving to NJ) was that there is no place when it snows for cars to move to. In NJ, most people have driveways and there are laws state NO cars in street, so the plows come through, clearing everything.
as you know, streets in NYC are small, and with cars parked on both sides, there is no room to remove any snow.

(71,265 posts)Nothing got plowed in the outer boroughs. It took 4 days for Bay Ridge to get plowed. He had the nerve to show up at a bar the next day down the block from me. people gave him a talking to.
