NYU tudent rescued after stuck between two buildings for two days

Eyewitness News

NEW YORK (WABC) -- FDNY rescued a 19-year-old NYU student Sunday after he was stuck in a two-foot gap between an NYU dorm and a garage on 80 Lafayette Street.

Classmates say the student was missing for days.

Crews took over an hour to free the man. There is no word yet on how he became trapped, but he is alive.

From the pictures, it is amazing that anyone did. I can't believe that he was conscious and was communicating with responders!

Such a lucky young man. He survived days there.

A family member had a huge fall a short time ago. It took a lot of time, yet they survived.

Reminds me of how I felt reading Howard Zinn's description of slaves being transported below deck lying down in cages barely high enough for them turn over. Jesus.

I wonder if there are some folks that have gotten stuck over the years and haven't been found yet.
Creepy to even think about that!

Reminded me of a time I visited someone in the hospital. I apparently went out a side door, which locked behind me. And I ended up in a small alley with a wooden gate at the end. It was a weekend, so no one was in any offices, and I was in a blind panic until I managed to get the gate open and get out! And I had my dog in the car...
