Barron says he’s Assembly-bound, and ready to ‘bag’ Cuomo, Silver

A tip of the hat to Colin Campbell of the Observer for bringing our attention to NYC Councilman Charles Barron’s video announcing his intention to run for the Assembly seat currently held by his wife, Inez Barron.
In the video, Barron jokingly takes credit for “bagging” a portrait of George Washington (“sold us for molasses”) and a statue of Thomas Jefferson (“a slave-holding pedophile”) in the City Council chamber, which is undergoing renovations.
“I’m on my way out of the City Council, up to Albany so I can bag the governor and bag the Speaker, (Shelly) Silver,” Barron says in conclusion.
Barron, whose brand of racial advocacy has earned plenty of controversy, has run for mayor, for governor in 2010, and twice for Congress, most recently in 2012 in a primary run against then-Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries that gave the Democratic establishment a bad case of the jitters. He did, however, earn the endorsement of former Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon David Duke — both for Barron’s harsh criticism of Israel and as a sort of the-devil-you-know thing.
