Brooklyn groping, police assault suspect arrested

PARK SLOPE (WABC) -- Authorities in Brooklyn have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with the groping of an 11-year-old girl and an assault on a police officer, and they are investigating if he could be behind three other sex assaults on children as well.

Police had released a detailed sketch of the man accused of fondling the girl, and officers canvassing the neighborhood and putting up posters spotted a person fitting the description in the vicinity of 5th Avenue and 9th Street around 3:40 p.m. Monday.

When they stopped the individual to question him, he allegedly assaulted a female officer, pushing her to the ground before fleeing the scene.

The officer was transported to Methodist Hospital, where she was treated for a dislocated shoulder.
