Citigroup official to lead New York’s green energy bank

A day after he announced a $225 million state investment in the green energy industry in Buffalo, Gov. Andrew Cuomo named a Citigroup official to lead the state’s fledlging Green Bank, which is intended to serve as a financing arm for green energy projects.

Alfred Griffin has spent the last 16 years working at Citigroup Global Markets specializing in structured finance. He’ll be the the first president of he Green Bank, a $1 billion effort to leverage private money for green energy projects.

Cuomo announced the effort in September, starting with a $165 million request for uncommitted money from the Public Service Commission
