(21,846 posts)It usually waits until December to get really cold like this.
I hope this does not portend a long cold winter.
edited to add "not."

(86,526 posts)it was +32F this afternoon! If it gets above +40F between now and May, it will be a good time.
Sorry to sound so lacking in compassion, I live in real winter for at least six months out here. NY can't be all that warm in the winter after all. I am sorry it's having such an ill affect on your asthma though.

(86,526 posts)I will be more compassionate if you end up with our winter extremes though. I have seen it stay around -15F to -20F during the day with night-time temps of -38F to -50F! and this can go on for weeks. Makes the steel roof on my dwelling pop and crack so loudly at night that it wakes me up with a rude start. I have quite the stash of winter wear which ranges from ultra heavy down filled items and thick pile sheepskin boots (the best for those temps!) to lightweight down and ski leotards.
Today I was standing outside for six hours as a volunteer heading off skiers trying to sneak across private property to access the ski trails without paying for a pass over in tourist town, my right foot got chilly for some reason, I'm glad to be indoors now! I was in the shade most of the time so it was about +19F, thankfully the wind was no active! But I have a neoprene face mask for that.
I don't mind the cold as long as i have the clothes for it. Keep warm, dear... this, too, shall pass.

(43,049 posts)by Wednesday, when it will surely rain.
Then it starts sneaking down again.
This morning the wind out here made it really miserable. I had to chase my hat down the street again.
