Police Release 16-Year-Old Being Questioned In Connection With Queens Teen's Murder

There are still no arrests in the death a 14-year-old Queens girl who was shot on an MTA bus, but there is an update on the investigation.

Sources tell NY1 that police have received a number of tips in the shooting of D'aja Robinson, 14, and that they now believe they know the identity of the shooter, but have to track the shooter down. Investigators say that a 16-year-old male who was being questioned in connection with Robinson's death was released to the custody of his mother. Investigators say they believe that the shooter may be the member of a street crew, although they are not prepared to say which crew at this time.

Robinson was shot and killed while sitting on a Q6 bus at the intersection of Sutphin Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard in South Jamaica last Saturday night. Police say Robinson was on her way home from a Sweet 16 party.

The bullet went through the bus window and struck her in the head, according to police. Terrence Payne, 17, was arrested for allegedly firing shots outside a lounge, which was the location of the Sweet 16 party that Robinson and her friends attended. Those charges are not related to Robinson's murder.

I can understand the despair of people where this sort of tragedy seems all too common, especially among our precious young.
