DOJ Plans To Back NYPD Oversight Move ( Stop and Frisk)

The U.S. Justice Department is throwing its support behind a federal monitor for the NYPD if a judge finds stop-and-frisk unconstitutional.

The move comes as Manhattan federal judge Shira Scheindlin weighs a decision in the class-action lawsuit aiming to curb stop-and-frisk.

She would appoint the monitor if she rules against the city.

Her decision is expected in the coming months.

1. I am sure most people here will think this a great thing Eric Holder is doing, right?

and Iknow the NRA hates Eric Holder, so I guess they won't.

Bravo to Eric Holder, day in day out the best AG we have ever had.

2. I hope that they stop, stop and frisk!

Saw it happen to a kid that did nothing and it was horrible.

3. I am against profiling however, if its done to everyone(like the airport), I don't mind.

an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

And I do feel safe at the airport, and I know people don't agree with me, but its worth a 1/2 hour extra
(and in 90% of the time, it is not a long delay. So one gets there a little early, it's a small price to pay.)

4. The Airport is different. People expect to be stopped there.

I don't expect to be stopped in the middle of the street for no reason.
