one more vote for the democrats in NC!

my youngest son just voted at ECU. i'm one for three with my sons: the other two refuse to vote. the oldest is in CA so it doesn't bother me so much, but the middle son is in PA and though i begged and argued with him for months he plain refused to do it.

but the other night we got to the issue of the supreme court and i think he started to see the light at that point. he's also stubbornly averse to recognizing that the acceleration of global warming is attributable to human activity. believe it or not he is highly intelligent, so i am at a loss to explain these glitches. but he is one person i can talk to and try to persuade so with him i will never give up hope.

the real issue is that he would not vote for the same candidates and rather than say that he just abstains??? Global climate change is just one issue but perhaps there are many others.

let's put it this way. he has not given me what i consider to be a valid reason for abstaining. especially given that he's in a state where the race may be close.

the oldest, who is almost 37, has never. he has a young family and works constantly, fishes, surfs, skates, and i think he just doesn't pay attention at all.

i feel i failed them in a sense because i wasn't so engaged when they were young. but the youngest, who was 8 when gw took over, has been with me and my politics for a long time.

but they knew I was a Clinton supporter while their father voted for first Ross Perot and then Bob Dole.... While ex remains a republican the children both vote Democratic. Yesterday the ex called and asked for ballot advice...while I couldn't convince him to vote for Obama, I did succeed in getting him to vote for Patrick Murphy rather than Allen West and to vote to retain the 3 liberal leaning State Supreme Court Justices the rethugs are trying to oust. Also convinced him to vote NO on all of the constitutional amendments. Oh and to vote for Bill Nelson (D) for senator....A good days work in my mind.
