is this beginning of a super majority republican-built dystopia in NC?

North Carolinians out of work could be facing more hardship.

State lawmakers met Tuesday to discuss drastic cuts in unemployment benefits.

During the meeting, a Legislative committee gave an initial green light to a proposal that would slash maximum weekly benefit checks from $535 to $350 and limiting benefit periods from 26 weeks to a sliding scale between 12 and 20 weeks.

Officials have said it's in order to pay off a loan from the federal government. Back in 2009, the state borrowed $1.5 billion to pay unemployment benefits.

The interest payments on the loan has run into the hundreds of millions.

I think many of these folks feel that we'd be better off letting the uber poor, the disabled and the elderly who can't manage to live without a social safety net just die. They don't call it that, but I know some of these folks. I know the mentality. It's a kind of ethnic cleansing through austerity. They don't really believe most of the poor will pull themselves up by their bootstraps. They think they'll kill themselves, each other, or die of addiction or a fatal disease, preferably quickly. It's their fault for having been born into poverty, you see.

I don't think they give a damn if anyone can "pull themselves up by their bootstraps", much less whether these people even have any bootstraps to pull themselves up with. They're the Grand Old Psychopath Party.

soon to be unemployed are teabillies.

Answer: More than likely, a whole bunch.

I hate these people and their hypocritically twisted, selfish and sick ideology. I truly do.
