The "Seven Ghost Towns of North Carolina" Road Trip takes you to seven forgotten places tucked into and around the beautiful Western North Carolina mountains! Along the way you'll explore the Town of
Lost Cove, where you can hike to old home sites hidden deep in Pisgah National Forest. Youll also see the
Lost Town of Proctor, reached by boat or a long hike near Lake Fontana.
The Road to Nowhere Tunnel leads to whats left of small Smoky Mountain communities displaced by the lake. In
Cataloochee Valley, youll find an old schoolhouse and empty buildings that are evidence of a former community here.
Mortimers mill ruins and the
Henry River Mill Village show what once stood there. And there's a stop in Maggie Valley at
Ghost Town in the Sky, a long-abandoned mountaintop amusement park that you can still view from the outside.
