I remember my Mom taking me & my sister to a lunch counter at a Kresgees somewhere in Detroit in the earlymiddle 60s. My sister & I were convinced it was fine dining

BLACKS IN BACK signs. The owner of the place was telling some people he didn’t care what was happening in South Carolina, they were going to the back. I was in first grade.

3. was talking to a young black man who is against gay marriage

I asked him if he realized IN MY LIFETIME there were places where black folk could not use certain stores, drinking fountains, bathrooms - would he agree with that? He seemed stunned and said, "no". I told him then stop wanting to deny rights to gay folk. WTF, wake up already. To his credit, he did seem to reconsider.
