Pitt County residents rally at board of elections meeting

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - Dozens of residents attended the Pitt County Board of Elections meeting Wednesday to voice concerns about early voting plans, leadership changes and what they described as signs of voter disenfranchisement.

The meeting comes months after board member Etsil Mason called for new director Janet Turner to resign following the termination of an elections worker, and complaints made regarding Turner’s behavior toward poll workers and judges at polling sites.

Turner replaced former elections director Dave Davis, who retired in January.

A complaint against Mason was then filed by board chairman Neal Driver, who accused Mason of discussing personnel matters during a public meeting.
