Cleveland holds 1st election with new city council ward map

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Cleveland held its first election(primary) Tuesday using its new ward map that was approved by city council in January, reducing the number of wards from 17 to 15 in the city.

Council President Blaine Griffin said under the new map, wards are more compact, ensuring that neighborhoods with shared concerns remain united. The changes also strive to ensure equitable distribution of resources and city services, addressing disparities that have impacted Cleveland’s residents for years.
