Women Fight Back: Ohio Bill Makes Erectile Dysfunction Her Business

You want to regulate our ovaries, uteri and order us to carry state-mandated children? Well, fine. We want to regulate your erectile dysfunction.

Thatís the message of state Democratic Senator Nina Turnerís erectile dysfunction bill in Ohio (SB307). The bill is meant to inflict the same sort of humiliation and violation of privacy on men as mostly male legislators are inflicting upon women across the country, but is wisely being sold under the exact same disingenuous ďconcernĒ as Republicans sell their attempts to control womenís wombs.

Turner sweetly pointed out, ďI certainly want to stand up for menís health and take this seriously and legislate it the same way mostly men say they want to legislate a womanís womb.Ē

SB 307 requires that:

(A) No person other than a physician shall issue to a patient a prescription for a drug intended to treat symptoms of erectile dysfunction.

7. Glad I already answered!

We'll be traveling by bus today, to our next town. It's about 2 1/2 hours north of Rome....

It will be nice to ride for a change!

9. The town is Castillo di Gargonza. It's a very small town.

We'll be there several days, with side trips to Siena, Cortona and Lucca. Lastly, we hit Florence and Carrara. Should be amazing!

3. Nina Turner is GOOD!

(B) Prior to issuing a prescription for a drug intended to treat symptoms of erectile dysfunction, a physician shall do all of the following:
(1) Obtain from the patient a notarized affidavit in which at least one of the patientís sexual partners certifies that the patient has experienced symptoms of erectile dysfunction in the ninety days preceding the date on the affidavit;
(2) Refer the patient to a sexual therapist approved by the state medical board for an assessment of the possible causes of the patientís symptoms of erectile dysfunction and obtain a written report in which the therapist concludes that the patientís symptoms are not solely attributable to one or more psychological conditions;
(3) Conduct a cardiac stress test and obtain a result, described in writing, indicating that the patientís cardiac health is compatible with sexual activity;
(4) Notify the patient in writing of the potential risks and complications associated with taking drugs intended to treat erectile dysfunction and obtain the patientís signature on a form acknowledging the patientís receipt of the notification;
(5) Declare in writing, under penalty of perjury, that the drug the physician is prescribing is necessary to treat the patientís symptoms of erectile dysfunction and attach to the declaration a statement that clearly describes the physicianís medical rationale for issuing the prescription;
(6) Place all documents described in divisions (B)(1) to (5) of this section in the patientís medical record and retain the documents as part of that record for not less than seven years.

16. Yes, those are all good.

But I'd go further yet and make compulsory a clinical physical evaluation documented in detail by video that proves pt. is unable to function normally.

12. Bad nutritional choices over the course of years are responsible

for the majority of cases of ED (clogged up microvasculature from dietary fats). I can only conclude that ED is frequently THE MAN'S OWN FAULT.

Men should therefore only be able to get Viagra etc if they can prove that they are not responsible for their ED problem.

15. It's a shame that the bill can't be added to the special session.

I'm certain that Perry, Dwhurst and Send. Heger would feel threatened by it.

17. I am not so sure that relevant parts cannot be added as an amendment

which is what I am busy suggesting in another window of my computer right now.

PS. I suggest a massive email campaign to Perry to add this to the call!

18. As the old saying goes,

"what's good for the goose is good for the gander." It does seem like the best way the Republicans can get a bill approved in a bi-partisan method without having the appearance of bias towards women.

It certainly seems germane in my opinion and we need to protect the health of men who might suffer the severe effects of priapism including ischemia that may cause gangrene and necessitate the removal of the penis! Yeppers, the governor and lt. gov. need to get a firm grip on this one.
