Oklahoma bill allowing performance audits heads to governor

OKLAHOMA CITY — Legislators have approved a bill that allows performance audits on Oklahoma’s largest state agencies.

The Oklahoman reports the measure calls for a commission to perform audits that focus on policies and procedures on 20 agencies that received the most state funding, including the Health Care Authority and Department of Human Services.

Each agency would be audited every four years.

Democrat Rep. David Perryman says the audits would likely show that the state agencies are underfunded. Republican Rep. John Montgomery says the bill aims to “find waste or improve the services we’re delivering.”
