Former Delaware County jailer accused of having sex with inmate pleads guilty to rape charge
JAY — A former female Delaware County detention officer pleaded guilty to raping a prisoner and is set for sentencing in November.
Christina Balcom, 27, of Disney appeared in Delaware County District Court on Thursday before District Judge Robert Haney on a charge of second-degree rape.
Balcom, who was seen wiping her eyes after entering the plea, is to return to court Nov. 7 to be sentenced.
The former officer confessed to a consensual sexual encounter with an inmate on Aug. 13, 2016, and was dismissed from her position two days later, according to an arrest affidavit.
