I am moving to Yamhill County Oregon and Looking For Housing

New Job in Oregon so......

Looking for a 2-3 BR home with the master being about 12x16 in size.1-2 bathroom to rent, Prefer townhome or house in Newberg or McMinnville area. We have a well behave and potty trained 14 yo cat who is part of the family. Something with a small backyard would be nice.

Budget is max $850 month.

We desire not having to give a corporation our hard earned $$$$ and prefer to support a private owner. We have excellent references from our current landlord.

If you can help us out or know someone let us know by messaging me on DU. Looking to move in late June 1st of July.

Thanks a bunch

I remember going to McMinnville once--driving up from Eugene. But that was in the early 90's. Wish I could go back. I miss the WIllamette River, golfing at Tok-A-Tee, and Ducks Football. May I suggest looking at the local paper in town (online?) and just make a lot of phone calls. Post something if you can. You should love the nature and environment. Gray during Winter, nice in Spring and summer. Good breezes out of Columbia basin to keep air fresh. Good Luck.

That's where you will find the most opportunities to explore.

Where will you be working? Commute?

Keep in mind that McMinnville and Newberg are popular and desirable -- in the wine country region.

You should know that the rental market in Portland Metro area is very tight, with low vacancies. You may not get what you want for $850.

Best of luck.

I dont want to support gas company's driving 40 miles from Portland.....also when I get off work I want to be home quick.

And anyhow how are we suppose to change the climate if we stay away from these communitys?

West of McMinnville, 99 is not as bad as between the two big towns and the city. I know the area well, lived in county, worked the region for decades. It is difficult to say where to look without knowing where you will work. You can buy a house at a reasonable price in some areas now. Sheridan area is nice. Carlton is a nice, small town too.
