just got tagged with an anti-Merkely push poll
or maybe it was more pro-Smith. Anyway, it was fairly transparent, and it was my pleasure to answer "makes no difference" to all the smarmy pro-Smith bullshit and "more likely to vote for Merkely" to all the atrociously liberal things he supports and represents.
Here's the Merkely campaign website: http://www.jeffmerkley.com/ I don't think I need to expound at length to anyone here as to why he deserves our support.

1. Jeff has my support, he's a great Senator and he was a great candidate and will be again
He'll be elected again too.

2. Thanks for the heads up on the push poll underway.
I heard Carl Wolfson's interview with Jeff yesterday (or maybe Wednesday) where Jeff said as of now he has no declared opponent. I'm wondering who Smith is--and please don't tell me Gordon. I support Jeff, send him a donation every month, but if this is Gordon you're talking about, I'll double my contribution. Talk about one gigantic step backward for Oregon! Yikes! Anyway, whoever it is, Jeff has my vote. We're beyond lucky to have him!

3. it wasn't Gordon, it was something like "Judy" Smith
Honestly, I've never heard of her before. Push poll was touting her as a 4-term member of the legislature who would "stand up for logging rights in timber communities" and whatnot, but when I googled I didn't see anything about her. I suppose it's possible that GOP ops were just making up a template candidate to theoretically run against Merkely and floating her out there in a poll to see what kind of candidate they need to recruit.

5. it was a phone poll
"If you're registered to vote as a patriotic hardworking Republican, press 1. If you're registered as a communistic welfare-grubbing Democrat, press 2. If you're registered with another party or as an independent, press 3. If you're not registered to vote, press 4."
OK, maybe not that obvious, but you get the idea. Standard issue stuff. |

6. I never get those.
My land line is silent; it goes straight to the answering machine and I check it once a month or so.

Now that you didn't mention it, isn't it about time we had another PDX DU meetup? Or some other excuse for us to go drinking?
