Hello, Oregonians!
And, hello, to all those who wish they were.
I am going to make an effort to post here more often. I hope my fellow Oregonians will join me. I know there are a bunch of us here. ![]()

I was here on DU for a few years, left as it was no longer my cup of tea. Saw the new and improved version so...here I am! |

6. Glad to see you all here!
The slate will be wiped clean when DU3 is officially launched.
I'm hoping for and looking forward to a more active Oregon group. And, since I didn't mention it in the OP, I'm in Milwaukie. |

12. DUer from beautiful Central Oregon checking in.
I love every inch of our awesome state, and have been to/lived in almost every corner. Must say, I like some places better than others, but wouldn't mind if I never crossed the border again, east, west, south and north. Maybe we could form our own country. Yes!

19. Oh, I love Oakland.
Such a charming town! For several years, I attended the Britt Festival in Jacksonville every summer with my late mother, drove along the I-5 from Salem and made it a point to stop in Oakland on the way there or back. We'd have lunch and ice cream at a lovely historic restaurant right downtown, and it was like stepping back in time. Some wonderful memories connected with your village, and interesting to know about all the anarchists!
Blessings back from East of the Cascades! |

20. We moved to Oakland
in 1959 when I was 10. Except for my college years, I've lived here most of my life since. The Modes of Elkton opened the soda fountain you remember in about 1966. Later it was bought by Tollefsons and expanded into a 4 star restaurant. For many years people drove from Eugene just to eat at Tolly's. New purchasers after Tolly Tollefson had a stroke couldn't make a go of it, and it was recently shut down on a federal tax levy, and sold. I'm waiting to see if the new owners can serve up a phoenix.

21. Ah, yes, Tolly's--that's the place!
Thanks for letting me know and bringing back the memory. Yes, now I recall it was a desination for lots of people I knew. Sorry to hear it's no longer open. I rarely travel south of Salem when I make it west of the mountains these days, but a trip to Tolly's would be well worth the drive if it should reopen in its former glory. I'll keep watch!
Blessings and happy holidays. |

25. I understand...
I've lived in many places but, NW Oregon (where I am now) and San Francisco (where I was born) have always been the places I call home.
Ask anyone who really knows me IRL and they will tell you it is true. You are welcome here. Take a seat and enjoy our company. ![]() |
