looking for happy and present people in Portland

a gentle friend of mine just moved to Portland for a job at the hospital as a P.A.
Any ideas where he could meet friends?
Plus....I would like to do an art project in Portland, so does anyone know anyone who is involved in Nonprofits there?

One of the best ways I can think of to meet people is doing volunteer work. Volunteer with the local Dem party, the food bank. If there is a cause your friend is passionate about volunteer for it here in PPDX to meet like minded people. I volunteered at Basic Rights Oregon, an LGBT group, when I first moved here. It was a great way to meet people outside the bar scene.
