(32,638 posts)Remember the dollars don't matter if Lamb doesn't get the voters to support him. I think it's an indication of how much (outside) interest is being shown on this election. I'm not in his district but I'm watching this closely.
Best of luck to Conor!

(15,286 posts)but Lamb didn't annouce it. How dumb is that? One of the rising young stars in the Dem party who could help goose Dem turnout and remind the 65+ CD 18 constituents, who vote Republican, of JFK, RFK and Camelot. And his light is hidden under a barrel.
Sorry, but if Connor Lamb is afraid to tell voters he's a Democrat or that voters will find out he's Dem, then he should have run as a 3rd party Independent, and let a real Dem have the party's nomination.

(28,394 posts)I saw the photos on FB after the fact. Was it a fund-raiser? Too bad we weren't invited!
Do you think Lamb is trying to run as a conserva-dem to appeal to the south hills? I am finally seeing some yard signs around Westmoreland Co. Still waiting for mine.

(15,286 posts)I'm in the 12th, so I don't have a vote, but it just irks me no end that Dems had a very good female candidate in Pam Iovino, retired Navy, asst secy for congressional affairs, VA services, etc. She should have been the nominee, but in parachutes Connor Lamb after not being interested in running in a crowded primary, using his political name and connections to take the nomination for all the other candidates who had invested their time and money to compete in a primary.
Republicans will always vote for the real thing, Dems running for office should never forget that.
PA Democrat
(13,225 posts)There was no primary. A party convention was used by both parties to choose candidates.

I live in the 18th district am very familiar with the voters in this district and I think Lamb has run a good campaign based upon what he is up against here. There are a lot of older Democrats who have been voting Republican for years. Nancy Pelosi is not popular with many of the people who are registered Democrats. Trump won the district by almost 20 points, even though Democrats hold a six point party registration advantage in the 18th CD. Tim Murphy ran unopposed in the last two election cycles despite the Democratic advantage by party registration.
There was polling done prior to the convention and I believe that the results influenced the choice of Lamb. I was polled and they asked my opinions of Nancy Pelosi, of Trump and of Congress. They polled on name recognition of the Democratic contenders including Pam Iovino.
Pam Iovino came in LAST on the final ballot at the nominating convention.

And I disagree with your characterization of Conor Lamb as a faux Republican.

(15,286 posts)then he threw his hat in the ring. I have the same attitude about that as I do about people who cut into line. YMMV.
I'm in the 12th and here in Beaver County I'd guess Dems still have a registration edge, but it's meaningless because most are DINOs.
PA Democrat
(13,225 posts)How exactly did he cut in line? Why call an excellent candidate a "faux Republican" when he has voiced ZERO support for Republican goals and instead is being daily hammered in TV ads for speaking out against the Republican tax cuts?
I'm not sure how helpful to the cause of flipping Murphy's seat it is to smear the Democratic candidate. But then again YMMV.
DeminPennswoods
(15,286 posts)because it's important for Dems to take control of the House, but I'm in the 12th (at least until the new map comes out) and get the fun of picking Rothfus' successor.

(15,286 posts)by 4 or 5 points. I haven't looked at the internals, but Monmmoth says they are accounting for increased Dem enthusiasm in the LV model. They cite their success in predicting the AL Sen race.
I'll wait until Terry Madonna and the FandM Poll (formerly Keystone Poll) survey the race.
