GOP Leaders To Seek Halt To Pennsylvania Congressional Map Theyre about to ask the U.S. S. C.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) – Republican leaders of the Pennsylvania Legislature say they’re about to ask the U.S. Supreme Court to halt the imposition of new congressional district maps, two days after they were announced by the state’s highest court.

House Speaker Mike Turzai says he and his Senate counterpart will request an emergency stay Wednesday of what he called a “completely partisan, ultimate gerrymander.”

In fact, that's all Turzai knows how to do.

The new map is fair to both sides, but Republicans don't like "fair". They can only win by cheating.

has put it on a "fast track", but they declined to order an immediate injunction saying: claims of injury from the Republican lawmakers are “not so exigent as to justify” immediately blocking the map through issuing a temporary restraining order, the judges wrote, especially because they favor giving “an opportunity for all parties to be heard.

I don't think the "not so exigent..." statement bodes well for the Rs.

It isn't as if the new map even made the Dems have more districts than Thugs. All it does is even the playing field a bit and the Thugs still have the upper hand.

Just reported in the Post-Gazette.

The GOP appeal to Alito/US Supreme Court is still pending.

So, the new map is it. The GOP screwed themselves out of a better map by refusing to negotiate with Gov Wolf.

Seems like the judge decided Scarnati essentially caused a frivilous lawsuit by taking the redistricting case to federal court, so he has to pay 29k in court/atty fees out of his own pocket!
