Did you receive "sleazy voter shaming letter"? Many Dems did.

When I got one of these in the mail, I commented to my wife that this was wrong. Apparently many other recipients felt so too. I'm in the Lehigh Valley... PA 7th District.

Snip> "The letter said the goal was to publicize who votes and who doesn’t. It listed the recipient’s voting history in previous elections, as well as the voting histories of neighbors. Sometimes, the information was inaccurate, according to several people who received the letters."

by this sort of information being mailed out. The lists of who votes in each election are publicly available at the courthouse, as is the registration information about every voter. Who you vote for is not made public.

A few years ago, this sort of letter was tested to see whether it increased voter turnout, and it did. The test letter said something like "Records show you did not vote last year--we hope you'll vote this year for XXXX." It sounds like what you got was very clumsy and offensive. But research does show that if people know that everyone else can know whether they voted or not, they are more likely to vote.
