Pa. man taking target practice shoots child in head with pellet gun

Police in Bedford County, PA, have charged a Saxton man after he accidentally shot a child in the head with a pellet gun, according to a criminal complaint. Saxton Borough police have charged Leo Ramsey, 36, with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and child endangerment following the incident on Dec. 13, according to online court documents.

Investigators say Ramsey told police that he was target practicing and that the victim ran in front of him and was struck in the temple-area with a pellet. Upon further investigation, police learned that the victim, along with another child, were sitting on the porch of the home watching Ramsey practice shooting.

Authorities say Ramsey told police that he heard the door open and "assumed that the child had gone inside." Police also noted that Ramsey admitted that the incident was "completely avoidable." Ramsey was arraigned to the Bedford County Prison, on $100,000 bail, online court dockets show.

Police say the victim was transported to Conemaugh Nason Hospital and then transferred to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh. An update on the child's condition was not provided.

The preferred name is Pennsyltucky.

On a more serious note, this appears to be an accident (albeit, an extremely careless accident) yet he faces $100,000 bond. How many of the 1/6 degenerates faced that bonds that high?

He shot someone who was on the porch.

It wasn't an 'accident'.
It was stupidity, carelessness, or intentional.

An accident is when you hit an icy patch on the road and your car goes in a ditch.
You had no control over the situation.

Your example of an icy patch could have been exacerbated by excessive speed or bad tires - both careless and stupid for the conditions.

My comment related to the matter that a) we don't know if this was malicious or accidental and b) seems to be a far more aggressive punishment than our friends on 1/6.
