Allies of Oz, Fetterman give advice ahead of U.S. Senate debate: Just stick to the issues

Allies of John Fetterman and Mehmet Oz — including two familiar names who have debated them in the past, but now support their candidacies for U.S. Senate — are urging their candidates to stick to the issues on Oct. 25 when they go head-to-head in a primetime televised debate.
In a race that’s been defined by its viral internet moments and potent attack lines, the late October showdown will stand as the only chance Pennsylvania voters get to see Mr. Fetterman, the Democrat, and Mr. Oz, the Republican, go toe-to-toe on a stage, and for both candidates, there’s an incentive to stay out of the fray, their allies say.
But how much a one-hour debate can really move the needle in a contest between two larger-than-life personalities remains to be seen, especially so close to the Nov. 8 Election Day, experts and strategists say. The polls have tightened in recent weeks, though, with Mr. Fetterman holding a slim lead.
For insight into how to approach a debate with a towering, tattooed lieutenant governor in Mr. Fetterman and a longtime TV celebrity and cardiothoracic surgeon in Mr. Oz, look no further than Montgomery County businessman Jeff Bartos. He’s debated both of them in traditional, televised formats, going head-to-head with Mr. Fetterman when the two ran for lieutenant governor in 2018 and facing Mr. Oz on a crowded stage in this year’s GOP primary.

Charlie Cook thinks this debate "could be big." Tuesday Oct. 25th in prime time - I don't know the time or the channel. (It's not listed yet.) Please check your local listings. Fetterman will eat Oz's lunch because all Oz can talk about is Big John's health. It's a non-starter.
