21 New Facilities Proposed in US to Export Natural Gas Overseas (get ready for a 2nd fracking boom)

https://www.ferc.gov/industries/gas/indus-act/lng/lng-proposed-potential.pdf

The linked graphic shows the location of 21 new facilities planned in the US for the export of natural gas to overseas markets. Another 9 facilities are shown in Canada. The Dominion Resources site along the Chesapeake Bay just received federal approvals.

Many of these sites are linked to PA. via proposed new or expanded pipelines. I understand barges could also be used along the Mississippi River watershed from western PA.

This map does not even show Corbett's proposal to turn a former refinery in Marcus Hook near Phila. into a gas export facility.

The prices of natural gas are much higher overseas. The Feds are being asked to make it easier for the US exporters to serve additional countries, including China. This export market may create a second boom in fracking, as well as higher prices for US consumers. But there will be many more jobs for Texans living in RV Parks in PA.

Also, it has geo-political implications, because the US will become more of a competitor with Vlad Putin, who controls much of the market in Eastern Europe. Russia's government is largely funded by its energy industries, and Russia in the recent past has cut off the supply of natural gas to other countries during political disagreements.

... and we're not going to even mention how LNG tankers would make very tempting targets for terrorists. What could possibly go wrong?

Corbett needs to get his ass kicked out. And then force him to drink every single drop of fracked water.

Then ask him how he likes it.

There's a glut on the US market now. There will be a shortage and much higher prices for gas and all competing energy sources once significant exports begin. Lose-lose, except for those who own these companies and energy futures,

That's the real reason so many Republicans are against the Syrian rebels.

Just after all the PA municipalities and businesses have converted all their vehicles to run on natural gas.....then the prices will be higher than gasoline. But no one seems to be seeing this.

It is just like the Keystone Pipeline....if we are so concerned about being fuel-independent in this country, why are we so excited about getting the oil to ports? I call bullshit on the whole "fuel independence" argument.

Ukraine, Germany, Italy and many other European countries are dependent upon Russian natural gas. Russia in the past has threatened to cut off gas supplies in the middle of winter to certain countries who irritated Putin. There is political pressure for Obama to open up the spiggot and approve large numbers of LNG facilities and remove export limitations so that LNG can flow to Europe.

(That would still require a few years until the natural gas would reach Europe, but it would spur many new wells immediately).

West Coast facilities would be aimed towards Asia, while east coast facilities would serve Europe.

"There is political pressure for Obama to open up the spiggot and approve large numbers of LNG facilities and remove export limitations so that LNG can flow to Europe."

This would only be a good thing if you work in the natural gas industry.

For everyone else in the US, it will mean higher domestic gas prices, more environmental destruction, and would make US manufacturing less competitive.

This a no-win situation for the people of the US. Big energy makes all the profits and we suffer all the "externalities".

This is as bad as the Keystone XL pipeline.
