Attyn. Gen. Kane has an associate completing an investigation of how former Attyn. Gen. Corbett's handled the Sandusky investigation, and why it took them almost 3 years to file charges. (Those charges still didn't happen until after Corbett was gone, and didn't take off until a narcotics investigator accidentally found out about the stalled investigation, and then state investigators found incriminating paper files in a Penn State VP's desk drawer after the investigators actually drove to State College).
Now, the Attyn. Gen. also is investigating whether a local school district in Clinton County had a role in delaying the investigation and in possibly intimidating a young student. The first young victim (Aaron Fisher) to publicly accuse Sandusky of years of abuse told his mother. His mother and the boy went to their local school district officials. Sandusky was regularly involved with this high school, including serving as a volunteer football coach. There are allegations that the staff of that school district did not meet their legal obligation to report the abuse to the police or county youth workers, and may have actually interfered with the process.
Excerpt: "USA Today, citing an anonymous source, says that a school official had alerted local youth authorities to expect a visit from Hennessy and her son and allegedly told them to regard their complaints with suspicion."
-------
From the USA Today Article:
"I just wanted to make him stop," Hennessy (Aaron Fisher's mother) said, recalling her son's halting words. Hennessy said she became angry and demanded about three times, she recalls that school officials "call the police."
However, according to Hennessy, Principal Probst cautioned the mother that she "needed to think about how this was going to affect the (boy's) family." Hennessy said Probst also mentioned that Sandusky had "a heart of gold."
Hennessy said Probst made the statements in the presence of her son, who then told his mother: "Mom, they don't believe me."
"Those school officials, Fisher told the gathering of law enforcement authorities and abuse counselors, "branded me a liar." "You are supposed to report suspicion of abuse without questioning," Fisher said. "My school did not do that. They told me to go home, to think about the repercussions. As you can imagine, that was heartbreaking."
-----
The son later said he considered suicide because it appeared that no one believed him, and Sandusky was still walking around free.

Meanwhile, the psychologist who worked with the Clinton County office of Children and Youth for years and who counseled the young victim for 4 years has been told his contract has not been renewed. The psychologist believes it was cancelled because he wrote a book about the whole debacle and because he has been so publicly critical of the process.
"Gillum, who in the book and in interviews has been sharply critical of the school's response in the Sandusky case, said he was "shocked" by the news. He said he had sought and received approval from Rosamilia (his supervisor) before starting the book, which was published last year.
.... According to a copy of the county's response, officials said Gillum worked on the book, Silent No More, "on his own time with the necessary and appropriate clearances."
----
So the psychologist who speaks out against injustice loses his position, but the principal who helped delay the investigation into Sandusky has been able to keep her job.

(Meanwhile, a school district outside of Harrisburg is now under public criticism because they received reports from FOUR of their teachers that an assistant principal was sexually involved with a student. The school district did their own supposed investigation and decided that they didn't need to involve the police. The police did eventually hear about the allegations, causing them to conduct a real investigation and then filing criminal charges against the ass. principal.)

(787 posts)1. People like this who attack the weakest among us,
People who have been already victimized, (Kids for Christ sake!) should be quietly taken out back and shot. The estate should be presented with the bill for the bullet.
