Kennywood's Tunderbolt recognized

For most of us who grew up with Kennywood and the Thunderbolt it's nice to see this. Also, the article mentions that the Racer and JackRabbit also have this recognition.

The annual school trip to Kennywood was always the most fun part of growing up.

1. Oh Wow I remember this

I grew up in Ohio and we would go to Kennywood every summer, taking the train to get there. It was the highlight of my kidhood.

2. Kennywood is a National Historic Landmark.

Only one other amusement park has that distinction.

My big brother loved the Thunderbolt, but I was too small to ride it (and I hate roller coasters anyway).

Kind of sad it got sold to the conglomerates in 2007.

3. Yep--the annual field trip to Kennywood! That was the best.

Rolls and rolls of tickets in your pocket for the rides. Still remember the Jack Rabbit's "double dip" that made you fly out of your seat for a split second. Good times.

4. Before the Thunderbolt there was the Pippin! A nice, old fashioned wooden rollercoaster with a steep

drop that prompted my Grandma to say in Slovak, "I think we are going to hell!"
