Reading Health System to purchase five hospitals, change name
The Reading Health System has signed an agreement to purchase five Pennsylvania hospitals and plans to change its name, officials said Tuesday.
Reading Health System and subsidiaries of Tennessee-based Community Health Systems have signed an asset purchase agreement for Reading Health to acquire Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, Pottstown; Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville; Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville; Jennersville Regional Hospital, West Grove; and Chestnut Hill Hospital, Philadelphia.
As part of the changes, the health system will also introduce a new name: Tower Health.
Hospital officials said they would share more information about the new name in the summer. They also declined to elaborate beyond the statement about the purchase agreement and the new name.
