The former mayor of Melissa was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison Friday for soliciting a bribe from a local developer to annex land into his city.

David Dorman, who served from 1999 to 2009, was also ordered to forfeit $30,000, the amount he admitting to collecting.

The developer who paid the bribe, John Christie, was sentenced to 6 months in prison and ordered to give up his real estate license.

Authorities said Christie agreed to pay $70,000 to Dorman, but stopped after three $10,000 payments when contacted by federal investigators.
