Navarro County authorities say mother killed husband, three children before committing suicide

Update at 12:11 p.m., Sept. 24, by Tristan Hallman: Navarro County Sheriff Elmer Tanner said in a news conference that the mother, Guadalupe Ronquillo-Ovalle, shot and killed her children and her husband before turning the gun on herself.

Tanner said the murder-suicide appears to have happened on Thursday or Friday.

A reporter asked Tanner if he had ever heard of a mother slaying her family. Tanner said that in 25 years, he had never seen a mother shoot her kids.

Back in March, a similar incident occurred in Mesquite. Police said Angelica Vazquez killed her husband and two children — ages 18 and 21 — before she fatally shot herself in the head.
