I don't mind, but I love how jurors for Harris County Courts get "discounted" parking at $6/day. I think I'll try taking the bus down for the heck of it.

(12,444 posts)If selected in the 12...then you will be asked questions about yourself as it may relate to the case.
For example; your view of police officers, are any family members officers, if it's a credit card case then which bank do you use, are you a bank employee...stuff like that....some will be eliminated from that final phase. More are drawn then from the poole.

That would be a very, very bad thing!

(891 posts)That's crazy!! I did grand jury duty a few years ago in NJ. We got paid $5/day and parking was free! Actually, it was very interesting. We met a few times over a 2 or 3 month period and you could skip a day if they had enough jurors and you needed to be at work. I only missed one day because I had to do payroll. If given the chance, I'd do it again.

(29,414 posts)But if you do drive, there are cheaper open lots further away from the courts, so it's a walk of a few blocks. I haven't been to jury duty in a while, and I think the last one I did was municipal courts, and I wasn't picked.
It's too bad the northern leg of MetroRail isn't finished, or I'd suggest that. Down here on the south side, the all-day parking is $3, and a 3-hour ticket/pass is $1.25. You'd probably be at the building where they call and pick juries for several hours and just have to buy another ticket at a rail stop. However, I don't think that northside leg is open, so this is just for future reference

(29,414 posts)I know next to nothing about riding the buses here, but have always loved riding the train. From the Fannin station to the UH Downtown stop is about 40-minutes with all stops. I'll have to ride the north leg when it's done just to see where it goes and watch the scenery
Metro has a pretty decent site for information, so go to that link and then to the rest of their pages to see what your best bet is. Good luck, both with transportation and jury-selection!

(15,391 posts)Just some time stand up and yell at the judge, "It's 3-o'clock! What the hell are you still doing in your bathrobe?"
Or tell him/her that he/she looks fetching in a black mu-mu.
