San Antonio U.S. Rep. Joaquín Castro of San Antonio has tied the knot with fiancee Anna Flores.
The freshman Democrat said the couple got married in a private ceremony Saturday that was attended by family members.
Anna and I have had an eventful and very blessed year. We are excited to embark on our journey together as a family, said Castro, who turned 39 on Sept. 16 with his twin, Mayor Julián Castro.
At the twins' birthday celebration, the District 20 congressman disclosed that he and Flores are expecting their first child, a girl, in December.

(9,006 posts)...one of them needs to run for Senate against John Cornyn, and they should announce soon. We are just now a year away and we still have NO Dem of any profile (or any at all?) saying they will run against Cornyn.

(1,399 posts)With the possible exception of the Davis v Abbott race I don't think a Dem would have a chance at a statewide election. I know you don't want to hear this but the state won't be realistically challengeable for the Dems for 5 years at least. If you really want Cornyn out the best bet would be to get a moderately conservative popular political figure who'd run as an Independent. Unless Cornyn gets drowned in tea in the primaries, which I think he's too savvy a politician to let happen.
