Texas
Related: About this forumApparently the ACA will Allow a Hospital to Bill the State for Care of Individuals That May Be
eligible for Medicaid even if it is determined later, that the person did not qualify. And the State may not be refunded by either the patient or the hospital. Not having ACA Medicaid Expansion in Texas may cost Texas Taxpayers a fortune through a huge increase in hospital district taxes. Will hospitals be over run with people needing to see a primary care doctor as well as ER services? Word is going to get around if there is free medical care in Texas and other states not accepting the Medicaid Expansion.

And if there is no hospital district in Hidalgo County (Proposition just voted on), Texas could be picking up the bills for a huge number of ill people until it is determined by the State, their eligibility status. How many hospitals districts are there in Texas?
Rick Perry needs to reconsider the ACA Medicaid Expansion. Perhaps, Perry is planning on running out of office and leaving Texas taxpayers the bills. Texans have already paid for Medicaid Expansion with their federal income taxes. Other states will get the Texas share of the money if Rick Perry insists on refusing the ACA Medicaid Expansion.

(30,058 posts)Wonder Boy Perry has declined to set up an exchange. If it is true the state will have to cover those who would qualify for Medicaid then it will not make those eligible to still have the coverage they need. It may turn out this is a big OOPS moment for Perry and his TP group. They get more stupid as time goes on.

(4,695 posts)Perhaps many others are getting a letter from their insurance company telling them of a cancellation of a plan. Obama is going to allow a new amendment to ACA letting them keep under-insurance plans. So the State will have to pay the rest of the bills allowing the insurance companies off the hook. State welfare/subsidies to the insurance business is born Jan. 1, 2014.

I hope democrats make their message REALLY CLEAR about whose fault this mess is....it is the republican legislatures that were so stupid that they thought they were making a tea-point.
