State District Judge Susan Criss (D) to run for State House

GALVESTON - State District Judge Susan Criss said Friday she is resigning to run for a state representative post being vacated by Craig Eiland, D-Galveston.

Criss, a Democrat, said in an email that she had sent a letter to Gov. Rick Perry making her resignation effective at 5 p.m. Friday, leaving a judicial post she was elected to for four terms.

She will appear at Texas Democratic Party headquarters in Austin at 2 p.m. Sunday to file as a candidate for House District 23, the email said.

Criss is the daughter of Galveston County Democratic Party Chairman Lloyd Criss, who served six terms as a state representative from District 25.
