San Antonio Area: School districts cautious about shooting threat

SAN ANTONIO — School districts throughout San Antonio sent letters home to parents Monday informing them of an anonymous threat of a mass shooting at an unspecified elementary school.

An email threatening the violence was sent last weekend to numerous Northside Independent School District officials at various elementary schools and its central office. San Antonio Police Department officials met Monday morning with school district police chiefs to coordinate a response.

Officials do not believe the threat is credible but are taking it seriously, Police Chief William McManus said Monday.

The single-paragraph e-mail, composed with casual spelling and erratic punctuation, got right to the point. “You won't see day lights no more,” it began, according to a copy obtained by the Express-News. Its author, self-identified as the “San Antonio serial killer,” specified a mass shooting would occur between 9:45 a.m. and 10:50 a.m. Thursday.

“You will never know what School that is going to be! so it can be whatever!” the email stated. “That means some families will definitely miss their kids and never see them again.”
