Texas ‘sovereign citizen’ sets dumpster fire, reports self missing to set up police ambush

Police arrested a self-described “sovereign citizen” accused of shooting at police and firefighters after setting fire to a trash bin in Dallas.

Emergency crews responded to the dumpster fire about 3 p.m. Monday, when the man opened fire on officers.

Police said the gunman, who was the subject of a missing persons report filed that afternoon, threatened a babysitter who retreated into a nearby home with an 8-year-old girl.

No one was wounded by the gunfire, which struck a fire engine in the area.

Police said the man, identified as 60-year-old Douglas Leguin, called 911 to say he was part of the anti-government sovereign citizen movement.

You know what they call it when you kill a police officer?

Capital murder. That means that in Texas you either get life in prison with no possibility of parole, or the death penalty.

Uh-huh. Some "sovereign citizen" trying to prove some dubious point.

in Boston in 1970 throwing rocks at fire trucks that had been dispatched to put out bonfires. My roomies and I accosted them on the back stair and told them they would be the next projectiles off the roof if they didn't knock it off.

Later that night, the police rioted and they got their asses kicked. Our doors were reinforced so we escaped the ass kickings.
