WASHINGTON - A defiant Gov. Rick Perry warned Thursday that individuals associated with terrorist forces in Iraq might already have crossed into the United States over an unsecured border with Mexico.
Speaking at a forum on immigration (The Heritage Foundation), Perry pressed for a more aggressive military response to the extremist Islamic State in Iraq and Syria group while raising the potential of another attack on U.S. soil.
"I think there is obviously great concern that because of the condition of the border, from the standpoint of it not being secure and us not knowing who is penetrating across, that individuals from ISIS or other terrorist states could be," Perry said in response to a question. "And I think there's a very real possibility that they have already used that."
Perry added he had "no clear evidence" of entry by ISIS forces but cited murders, rapes and violent crimes committed by people crossing the border illegally.

And I don't think the Texas-Mexico border is near that region
Perry, get a different pair of "smart" glasses. Because I don't think the current pair is doing its job any more!

(9,117 posts)Terrorists slipping over from Mexico? Amazing what wingnuts will believe.
If I were running a terrorist outfit planning strikes in the US, I'd avoid the usually-fenced, usually-patrolled US--Mexican border and try and slip my operatives into Canada--and then cross the US border from there.

(9,117 posts)To expound further: how many of the hysterical right-wing nuts quivering in their boots about people crossing the US--Mexican border have ever been to the US-Mexican border? D__ few if any, I'd bet.
I have. I have been to the border and have driven beyond the border checkpoints while still on the US side. I have seen miles of barbed-wire fencing, seen miles of plowed-up earth, and have seen what seems like dozens of ICE patrol vehicles crisscrossing those sections (El Paso to Columbux, NM). It looks like nothing so much as it does the old Warsaw Pact Iron Curtain.
I still believe it would be easier for a terrorist to slip in through Canada than across the US--Canada border.
